2: Testing Blurbs (Walkthrough)


  • BUDGET: $30 per blurb (for 2 blurbs, total of $60)
  • TESTING TIME: 2 – 3 days to smooth out data randomness
  • TARGET: Target already tested and proven author or genre audiences
  • LINK: send to Amazon if available, otherwise your website/Goodreads
  • DATA: need 50+ clicks per blurb for reliable data
  • ANALYSIS: Winner is the blurb with the lowest CPC and highest CTR; looking for big differences. Minor differences either the control (original blurb) stands OR you choose based on your instinct/what fits the book best (if you don’t have a blurb yet). CPC is the main metric, but sometimes CTR can be useful, as CPMs (make sure you have this metric active) for certain creatives will be randomly higher, thus spiking the CPC.

  2. Book Concepts (test in copy)
  3. First Chapters (test in copy)


You can use effective copy/taglines that have worked in your Facebook Ads and incorporate them into your Amazon blurb.
