4: 99¢ KU Box Set Strategy

*clarification: I say that if a set is 1,000 KENP a full read will be worth $4.50. That’s using a page read rate of 0.0045 per page, which is often where it hovers around. The page read rate does fluctuate, however (generally within a range of 0.0040 – 0.0050 in the US), so keep that in mind.

An additional strategy not mentioned in this video is price flipping. You launch the box set at 99c as outlined in the video, but after 7 – 14 days you change the set’s price from 99c to $2.99+. If you price flip to a lower price point (say $2.99), you can enjoy 70% royalties while still maintaining some momentum because the ads can still convert decently. If you price flip to a higher price point (say $9.99), you’ll likely stall out most of your momentum since it’s hard to generate sales from ads at $9.99.

Price flipping is something to consider if things are going okay but you’re not seeing the momentum / results you want at 99c. Sometimes it can breathe some additional life into the page read numbers. I wouldn’t recommend price flipping if things are going well at 99c; there’s no reason to mess with a good thing.
